Soo....am I the only person on DA that is utterly disgusted by most of the crap found on the ' popular ' pages?

I will state first and formost, there ARE some things on there that are deserving of such attention. BUT...for the most part they are just images of whatever panders to the preteens and teens that seem to over-run this site like. For instance...ANIME. Or....fancy wolf spiritual pictures....or....some other rampant fade that seems to be over running every goddamn art hosting site.

Hell, I wouldn't even care if it wasn't for the fact that most(key word here guys so I don't get flamed too much for this) of these 'artists' aren't even halfway educated in color, composition, and line quality. They don't even bother to consider it! They just vomit whatever will get the most attention onto a piece of paper, color it and put it online and everyone loves it.

Now, this isn't some sort of rant because of my short comings of attention here on DA. I don't need DA to be a successful artist by any means...I put things in galleries in the real world. I will be submitting oil paintings and some drawings to local galleries around my area. And I got three paintings into a jurried show at my college.

I guess I am just hoping to get some people to wake up and consider things that are by large artistically relevent. It's not all about just 'expressing' yourself. It's about creating a sound piece of art. Hell, I don't really even bother submitting anything here anymore. I personally don't feel that this is a mature enough environment. You can't critique anyone without getting flamed.

It's supposed to be an art site. All I see are people pandering to each other and saying "that's great anatomy" even if it clearly evident they have not even look at a nude human figure in their entire life and have no understanding of how the human body works.

But I guess what more can I expect from a site that is mainly high schoolers who just want to be praised? I was in that boat once...that's why I even have an account. However I've grown up to see what this place really is. A cesspool of praising one another needlessly and doesn't support artistic growth what-so-ever. And even if anyone does TRY to give me a critique it's on things that really don't matter. Nit picky shit that has nothing to do with basic construction problems involving composition, perspective, or anatomy.

I am giving myself a few days before I decide wheter or not to terminate this account. For the most part it's been a huge waste of my time, aside from the few decent people I've met through here.
